Norwegian Tine (pronounced tee-nah) bentwood box, with Oseberg longboat and Zuni style bear details. FREE SHIPPING
This bentwood box combines two of my favorite design elements. The side details are inspired by the prow of the Oseberg Viking longboat (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oseberg_Ship) that is displayed in Oslo, Norway. The boat dates to 840 A.D. The other element, is the bear. I have used the Zuni Indian style bear that is seen in many art forms in the Southwest of the US. I have combined these elements, with beautiful Quilted Big Leaf Maple and Maple Burl from Oregon.
The top has a hidden pin on each side that keeps the top on. By flexing the side away from the top and lifting the top, gives you access to the box.
16" long, 6 3/4" wide, and 7" high. Inside measurements are 11 1/4" by 6" by 3 1/2".
I finished this box with tung oil and urethane on the outside, and a simple shellac sealer on the inside. The finish is tough and durable and easy to care for.
